OMR bubble size

One of the important components of the OMR Sheets is the OMR bubbles. These bubbles represent the answer options provided to the students or candidates. They have to fill one bubble for each grid to answer a question. The OMR software is designed to detect and read these dark marks, thus providing the accurate results. However, if the bubble size is not correct, it can hamper with the reading of the sheet. Let us try to know about the right size of the OMR bubbles.

Bubble size

• The optimal size of the bubble can be anywhere between 40 and 50 pixels.
  
• Do not reduce the OMR bubble size to fit maximum of them in the sheet. Such sheets have to be read at a higher sensitivity mode. This can slow down the reading process as it increases temporary rejections and alerts.
  
• Filling the small bubbles can also be problematic as it may cause pain and stress to the fingers, decreasing the speed of filling the forms. In such cases, the students may not be able to complete their exam paper.
  
• Just like too small bubbles, too large bubbles should also be avoided. Students would have to spend too much time to fill the bubbles perfectly due to which they would lose time and may not be able to complete the entire paper.
  

Text label size of the bubble

Sometimes the OMR bubbles have text inside them for the students to recognize the right answer easily. The size of this text should not be too bold. Keep it as thin or small as possible because if the text is too big, the OMR bubble reader may register it as a dark mark, leading to inaccurate reading. Hence, always keep the text small, but readable.

Distance of bubbles

In order to fit all the answer options in one page, you may cram them up together. This is a huge technical defect and can hamper the OMR reading process. Make sure that there is sufficient and equal distance between the bubbles, and that they do not overlap each other.
